MEET PASTOR DAN

Greetings Barren Ridge Family,

The Lord has blessed us greatly.  Starting with HIS call to move to the Shenandoah Valley and become your pastor. As this new chapter starts, I pray that in 2026 the Lord will continue to guide us and work through us to build HIS kingdom.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of GOD…” In doing so the rewards will then follow.  Deuteronomy 28: 1-2  “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.”

This scripture tells us that the conditional blessings promised to the Israelites for complete obedience to God’s commandments. Verse 1 states that if the people fully obey the Lord and carefully follow all His commands, God will elevate them above all other nations on earth. Verse 2 continues that all these blessings will come upon them and accompany them as a direct result of their obedience, reminding everyone of the nature of God’s favor.

These verses serve as the introduction to a larger section in Deuteronomy 28, which contrasts blessings for obedience (verses 1-14) with curses for disobedience (verses 15-68). In closing, Deuteronomy 28:1-2 underscores the truth that faithful adherence to God’s commands results in divine favor and blessings,  as the following verses show us. It also reminds us of  the consequences of obedience versus disobedience throughout the chapter.
